Unit AwardsGlobal War on Terrorism GWOT
Commander, USNORTHCOM has authorized the award of the GWOT-SM to individuals assigned or attached to USNORTHCOM subordinate units from 11 September 2001. Units participating in operational missions for JTF-6 are under Tactical Control (TACON) of the Commander, JTF-6 but are not assigned or attached organically to JTF-6. Mission unit personnel remain assigned to their parent organization and therefore are not eligible for the award of the GWOT-SM through the authorization granted by the Commander, USNORTHCOM.
