Command Sergeant Major Kristopher L. Dyer was appointed as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader of Joint Task Force North on 15 May 2020.
He joined the United States Army in February 1995 and attended basic training and advanced individual training as a 77F (Petroleum Supply Specialist) at Fort Lee, Virginia. After six years on active duty he joined the Texas Army National Guard in April 2001. He is a native from El Paso, Texas and graduated from Los Lunas High School in 1995.
CSM Dyer’s military and civilian education includes all levels of the Non-commissioned Officer Education System, Air Assault Course, Recruiting and Retention Course, Keystone Leaders Course and is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. His educational degrees include a Masters of Defense and Strategic Studies from University of Texas El Paso and Bachelors of Science from Excelsior College.
He served in numerous Non-commissioned Officer Leadership positions as he spent time in two components: the Active Army and the Texas Army National Guard. His previous assignments include Petroleum Supply Squad Leader and Rifleman, Section Leader, Section Chief, Platoon Sergeant, Recruiter, Recruiting and Retention NCOIC, Operations NCOIC, First Sergeant, the Recruiting and Retention Command Sergeant Major, and Senior Enlisted Advisor for the Texas Army National Guard.
Command Sergeant Major Dyer’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (9th award), Army Achievement Medal (6th award), Good Conduct Medal (5th award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd award), Iraq Campaign Medal (2 campaign stars), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon (5th award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd award), Drivers Badge (wheel), Expert Recruiting Badge, Air Assault Badge, and Gold and Silver Spur Holder. He is a life member of the National Guard Association of Texas, First Cavalry Division Association, the U.S Cavalry and Armor Association and Association of the United States Army. He is also a recipient of the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara.
CSM Dyer and his wife of 23 years Ivy have three daughters Destini, Lailani and Rosalyn.
